Frequently asked questions
+ Am I required to wear a swim cap and goggles?
Yes, swim caps and googles are required. Our affiliate vendor SWIMOUTLET(click here) has a wide variety of caps and goggles at the best prices
+ Is any previous swimming experience required?
There is no previous swimming experience required. Our beginner level classes for adult and children are designed to be comfortable and welcoming. Whether you are and adult or child we will work on the fundamentals, breath control, floating and balance. Once these foundational elements have been achieved we will work towards learning the four competitive strokes.
+ Which class or level should I enroll in?
Please read the detailed description of each class as we do our best to describe the details of each level/class. If you are still unsure of what level you or your child need to enroll, please call in to schedule a trial lesson and one of our instructors can recommend a class or level.
+ Should I take group lessons or private lessons?
Group lessons are a great way for your child to receive a social and learning experience. Lakeside Swim School sees the importance in one-on-one learning, so there is never more than 4 children in a group class. This is a great balance for many children, as they get time to rest between skills when they are not getting personal attention from their coach. Private lessons are another great option and better for children who want or need one-on-one attention for the entire lesson. Private lessons do not follow the same curricula as group lessons, which can leave some room for personal goals of the student. You can also sign up for semi-private lessons, which are lessons with two participants and one coach. Semi-private lessons do require that you supply your own partner for the lesson. Both participants must be at the lesson for a coach to give a semi-private lesson.
+ How frequently should I take classes?
The more often you receive a lesson the quicker you will improve. If you are looking for the fastest results, we recommend twice a week. Greater frequency of practice will result in faster improvement. People who have busy schedules are recommended to take lessons no less than 1 time per week.
+ How do I change or cancel my enrollment?
If you wish to cancel or change your enrollment please do so via email. Please email jason@lakesideswimschool.com with any change/cancellation requests.
+ What happens if I need to miss a scheduled lesson?
When students enroll for group lessons we assume that you will attend every week at the same time and day. That being said, we understand that sometimes life gets in the way and you may have to miss a week. If you miss a week you have 30 days to make up the lessons on another available day and time ( subject to space availability). If this does not work you have the option scheduling a make-up private lesson for a nominal fee.
